Like the previous three movies, I think it can be confusing if you haven't read the books first. Nevertheless, it was solid.
Parenting note: As usual, this installment is darker than the last one. Common Sense Media rated it for ages 12 and up. However, the family vote—including a 7-year-old and a 9-year-old—was unanimously "yes, let's watch it." The kids slept well afterward and had no nightmares.
